With this open-air photographic exhibition, immerse yourself in the unique history of oil exploitation in Northern Alsace. Throughout the route in the streets of Merkwiller and neighboring towns, about fifteen tarpaulins with more than sixty old photos evoke the locations of sites that still exist or have been erased. These images are a reminder of the extraordinary development of this operation, which is so special and unique in France.

This exhibition completes the photographs installed around the Carreau Clemenceau, a site for the recovery of liquid crude oil by mine galleries from 1917.

Map available on request and on the museum's website.

"Explanatory visits", led by museum guides, can be offered throughout the season for groups (+10 people), by reservation. Meeting and departure at the museum.
