Ludwig Bettcher died 110 years ago in Strasbourg. Originally from Düsseldorf, L. Bettcher was appointed architect of the Imperial Post Office of Alsace-Moselle in 1888. Very prolific and fascinated by neo-Romanesque, neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance art, we owe him the construction of the Post Office de Haguenau (1902), but also the Post Offices in Strasbourg and Metz, Post Offices in Saverne, Colmar, Ribeauvillé, Thionville and the two Post Offices in Mulhouse and Wissembourg, destroyed in the fighting in 1944. Supported by the City of Haguenau, this bilingual exhibition (French and German), both historical and artistic, is the first to make the link between all the Post Offices of Alsace-Moselle.
