This exhibition highlights the Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen, this German Alsace-Lorraine which, in the space of forty years, has developed its own identity in many respects. 150 years after 1870 and a century after the reconquest of the "lost provinces" by France, the heritage of the "Terre d'Empire" is very much alive, continuing to ensure the singularity and influence of Alsace in terms of architectural, cultural, linguistic, economic, legal, religious or social. The “local law” still very much present in our daily lives is one of the consequences of this initially tragic and then constructive period.
