Woerth had two sanctuaries: outside the town, near the cemetery, the mother church of Saint-Laurent; in the center of the town, on the site of the current Protestant church, stood a simple chapel. The exact date of its construction is not known; However, it is mentioned in various documents as early as 1550. In a request addressed in 1728 to the lordship of Hanau-Lichtenberg, owners of the premises, Pastor Ehrenfried Hoeffel requested that the church be enlarged. Indeed, he explains, if the building is enough to accommodate the parishioners of Woerth, it turns out to be too small on the days when neighboring parishioners from Oberdorf, Spachbach and Morsbronn come to attend worship in Woerth. Furthermore, the building is in very poor condition. After several steps, the lordship gave its agreement for expansion work; However, during the work, he had to repeatedly encourage the various parties to keep their commitments: the parish factory, the town of Woerth, the municipalities of Morsbronn, Spachbach and Oberdorf, as well as the abbey of Stürzelbronn. It was not until 1754 that an organ was installed in the new church. In 1788, at the request of the Catholic parish, the choir was widened and the church was enlarged to its current dimensions. 1896 saw the end of the simultaneum, with the construction of a Catholic church. Since 1995, a wall hanging of the Artist Astrid Koerner-Lampert illustrates the exhortation of Psalm 150: Praise God with the sound of the trumpet! Praise him with the lute and the harp!. Note that the church houses a stained glass window by the reformer John Calvin.
