In neo-Roman style, it was built in 1897 during the German period. This is then the 3rd synagogue built in Soultz-sous-Forêts. The neighborhood surrounding it, enclosed by a group of small half-timbered houses, was once inhabited by Jewish families. The Jewish community left the rural world after the Second World War to settle in the city.
Recently, the Soultz-sous-Forêts synagogue was inaugurated for the third time since its construction. In fact, new work was launched in May 2015. It aimed to install authentic stained glass windows and restore the bulbs on the turrets.
This religious building has been classified in the second list of Historic Monuments since 1994, this synagogue still bore some scars from the Second World War. These traces of a painful past are now completely erased.
