Itinerant loop from Wissembourg via the Gimbelhof, Niederbronn-les-Bains and Goersdorf.

It is an authentic and preserved Alsace which will be offered to you, between half-timberings, pink sandstone castles, vestiges of the Maginot line or even vineyards.

Stage 1: Wissembourg - Gimbelhof (17 km)

Departure from Wissembourg, a fortified city classified as one of the most beautiful detours in France, passing through the Col du Pigeonnier and the source of the Heimbach before reaching the Gimbelhof. Possible detour via the ruins of Loewenstein and Hohenbourg, superb views guaranteed.

Stage 2: Gimbelhof - Niederbronn-les-Bains (21 km)

Direction the castles of Fleckenstein and Froensburg! Descent into the Steinbach valley towards Jaegerthal, here and there works of the Maginot Line are visible. In Jaegerthal are the remains of forges dating from the XNUMXth century and operated by the Dietrich family.

Stage 3: Niederbronn-les-Bains - Goersdorf (15km)

From the spa town, go to Froeschwiller, a typical Alsatian village, passing through the lake of Reichshoffen, Nature Reserve. Several monuments of the "Battle of Reichshoffen" are visible during the route. Opportunity to visit the Museum of the Battle of August 6, 1870 before reaching Goersdorf.

Stage 4: Goersdorf - Wissembourg (21,5 km)

This last stage takes part of the "Baristetressel", an old Roman road which, it is said, linked Niederbronn-les-Bains to Wissembourg. Passage through Marienbronn and the Seven Fountains. Short stop at the Cleebourg wine cellar before continuing on the arboreal path then the road to Saint Jacques de Compostela. Arrival in Wissembourg.
