Started at the Seltz-Plittersdorf ferry, the cycle route crosses the villages of the Rhine strip to reach the eastern limit of the Haguenau forest. The route then takes a northwesterly direction to follow the Maginot Line. The bike ride takes place in the forest to Hatten then through a region of hills to the foot of the Northern Vosges. Protected again by the forest, the route crosses the Pfaffenschlick pass before emerging in the Sauer valley then those of Jaegerthal and Schwarzbach which lead to Bitche in Lorraine.
