Walking

Take a stroll along this circuit through rolling landscapes, discovering the areas marked by the famous battle of August 6, 1870. The route leads you through the successive villages of Gundershoffen, Froeschwiller, and then Reichshoffen. Start at the Gundershoffen train station and then follow the signs to the hamlet of Elsasshausen near Froeschwiller. A clear view of the battlefield unfolds before you. Near the circuit, you can climb to the viewpoint built in 1913 to enjoy the complete panorama. Continue your walk towards the next village of Froeschwiller, passing the Church of Peace, built from Vosges sandstone. Then proceed towards the forest and then the Reichshoffen lake (a remarkable natural site and a designated Voluntary Nature Reserve for its wildlife). Continue on to the town of Reichshoffen, the cradle of the Dietrich dynasty, before returning to the starting point.
