Fort Wineck, also called Windeck or Schmalstein, was built around 1300 for the Windstein family. It was probably designed as an observation post intended to complete the defensive system of the castle of Schoeneck

Vanguard post of the Château du Schoeneck, installed on a rocky ridge and dismantled at the end of the XNUMXth century, by order of the King of France. Remains of part of the walls of the pentagonal keep and the enclosure.

Access: from the car park located along the D 53 between Obersteinbach and Wineckerthal, cross the road and take the path marked with a yellow disc which leads to the castle. Count 20 minutes of walking.
