The building has been classified as a historical monument since 1921. Its Carillon de l'Europe is made up of 30 bells.

The church of St Michel, built in 1772 and listed as a historic monument, has several registered pieces of furniture which make it a unique and very interesting ensemble. Its imposing bell tower rises 68,9 meters above the old town. 10 years were necessary for the construction of this building.

Its portal, sober and rigorous in its decoration, attracts the eye by the decoration of its pediment, characteristic of the neo-classical style. The church of St Michel, built in sandstone from the Vosges, was located on the edge of the second fortified enclosure of Reichshoffen, on the site of old dwellings, the cemetery and the old church. The owners were the village community for the nave and Lord Jean de Dietrich for the choir, the sacristy and the bell tower. The distribution of the construction costs caused controversy and gave rise to a long trial which ended in the conviction of the lord.

The 5 bells in flight offer a harmonious ringing which earned them not to be requisitioned and melted down by the Germans during the First World War. The two oldest date from 1786 and 1812, the latter was cast in honor of the birth of the King of Rome.

The Carillon of Europe, made up of 30 bells, plays religious tunes at 11:57 a.m. and 20:02 p.m., the air of the Cuirassiers at 14:32 p.m. and 18:01 p.m., and the European anthem at 17:02 p.m.
